Privacy Policy
Effective October 24, 2026. Last updated: October 25, 2026.
Hilco Construction ("Hilco", "we") is a residential renovation company in the Quebec City area. This policy explains, in plain terms, what personal information we collect, why, who we share it with, how long we keep it and how you can exercise your rights. It applies to our website, our client portal and your exchanges with us by email or phone. The French version of this policy prevails.
Person in charge of personal information
The person in charge is the company's President, Félix St-Hilaire. For any question or request about your personal information:
- Email: felix.sthilaire@hilcoconstruction.ca
- Phone: (581) 997-8448
What we collect and why
Quote or contact requests
First name, last name, email, phone, type of service, city or area and project description. We use them to reply, prepare a quote and follow up on your request.
Job applications (Careers page)
First name, last name, email, phone, desired position, message and resume. We use them only to assess your application and contact you.
Portal clients
Name, email, phone and the documents related to your project (contracts, invoices, progress photos and comments). We use them to carry out your project, keep you informed and meet our legal and tax obligations.
Technical information
Like any website, our servers receive your IP address when you visit the site or submit a form. We use it only for security, for example to block abusive submissions.
Required form fields are the ones we need to reply to you. If you prefer not to provide them online, you can call us directly.
How we collect it
We collect your information directly from you, through our website forms, by email, by phone and through the client portal.
Cookies and audience measurement
Only with your consent, the website uses Google Analytics to measure its traffic: pages viewed, visit duration, device type and approximate region. This data is used only to improve the site. We have turned off Google Analytics advertising and personalization features, and we never send it information entered in our forms.
This measurement is off by default: no Google Analytics cookie is set until you click "Accept" in the banner shown on your first visit. You can change your mind at any time with the "Cookies" link at the bottom of every page. The website uses no advertising cookies.
The client portal only uses the essential cookies that keep you signed in.
Who we share it with
We never sell your information. We share it only with the providers that help us run the website and portal, as far as their service requires:
- Vercel: website and portal hosting;
- Supabase: database for requests and the portal;
- Resend: confirmation and notification emails;
- Bunny.net: client portal document storage;
- Google: website fonts, display of our Google reviews (through the Elfsight service) and, if you accept it, audience measurement with Google Analytics.
Some of these providers store information outside Quebec, including in the United States. We choose providers that offer recognized security measures.
Internally, only the President and, when needed, team members handling your request or project have access.
How long we keep it
- Requests that do not lead to a contract: up to 2 years after our last exchange.
- Job applications: up to 1 year after receipt.
- Client files (contracts, invoices): at least 6 years, to meet our tax obligations.
After these periods, information is securely destroyed or anonymized.
How we protect it
Exchanges with the website are encrypted (HTTPS), access to data is limited to authorized people and protected by authentication, and each portal client sees only their own documents. If a confidentiality incident presents a risk of serious injury, we will notify the people concerned and the Commission d'accès à l'information.
Your rights
At any time, you can:
- request access to the information we hold about you;
- have it corrected if it is inaccurate or incomplete;
- withdraw your consent to its use;
- ask for it in a commonly used format;
- ask us to stop disseminating it or making it accessible.
Write to the person in charge using the contact details above. We reply within 30 days.
Complaints
If you have a concern, please contact the person in charge first: we will handle your complaint promptly. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you may contact the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec.
Changes
We may update this policy. The date of the last update appears at the top of the page.
